Every now and again I get super lucky and an outdoor winter maternity session features a beautiful sunset! It was a bit chilly but otherwise the weather was absolutely perfect for this January maternity session. Mom-to-be is absolutely gorgeous and I had a great time photographing her. Can’t wait to meet their baby boy in a few months!

When I get requests for family mini sessions in December it’s always a bit of a challenge to find a location that works and it seems like I frequently turn to this one because I love the white historic building as a background. One piece of advice I always share with families before an outdoor mini session in the winter months is to make sure small children are dressed warmly because they’re a lot happier when they’re not cold. These fleecy pajamas worked great!
I met up with Gwen and her mom at Bush Park for the first half of her senior photos. We met earlier to discuss outfits and what she wanted to do for her senior photos and realized that some would work better with a spring backdrop rather than fall. So we did the first half on a beautiful fall afternoon and will do the second half this spring. Senior photos can be done any time really, and occasionally it makes sense to split them up like this. I’m also happy to meet with seniors (and their parents!) before their session to chat about logistics and what outfits/locations would work best for them. Mason chose to do a Senior Mini Session at Bush Park which is a great fall location for senior photos. By November a lot of leaves are off the trees but there’s still plenty of good spots by the historic Bush House in particular. Senior photo sessions are a lot of fun and I enjoy doing them. I try to make the process as painless as possible, especially with the guys since they’re usually not as excited about doing photos as the girls!
