Summer Family in the Park

I met this family at a local park for family photos on a gorgeous sunny evening. We only spent about 45 minutes doing a full session but got more than enough photos in that time! I love doing photo sessions in the late summer since the weather is predictably warm/sunny and weeknights are an option since sunset times are fairly late. Full family sessions also give us the chance to get more than just the standard “look at the camera and smile” posed family photos. We also take the time to be a little silly and draw out personalities and explore family connections. Fall is always a super busy family photo season, but don’t count out late summer!

Grace Senior Photos

I’m sharing my own daughter’s senior photos in this post…hard to believe I’m a parent to a high school senior already! We have a long list of places we want to do senior photos, but this was the kick off. We went to our favorite Dallas park with her best friend which made the experience fun. We found some special spots from when she was little, used some of the same spots from photo sessions from when she was little, and soaked in the golden sunset. Since her best friend Juliette was along for the ride we traded off whose turn it was to be in the photos and also got several of the girls together. We even made sure to get Scout uniform photos together, although we’re hoping to get photos later in the spring with both girls sporting Eagle Scout badges on their chest!

Juliette Senior Photos

I did my daughter and Juliette’s senior photos together since they’re best friends, and having Juliette along made it a lot more fun for my daughter. She’s a joy to photograph and made the experience a lot of fun! We made the drive out to Dallas to use one of our favorite parks as well as the small “urban” area that Dallas has to offer. Gives us a lot of variety in a short amount of time which is fabulous for senior photos. I’m happy to do best friend’s senior photos together, I’ve done it several times and it always goes well! Plus we get a few photos of both kids together which is a bonus 😉

Braedon Senior Photos

I’ve known Braedon for many years now, starting when he was in middle school and helping out at my son’s Cub Scout pack. He’s a great kid and is definitely going places! He wanted to do the first half of his senior photo session in his suit and he looked pretty handsome. Then he wanted some photos wearing his chef clothing since he’s big into culinary arts (and I can attest that he makes great food on campouts!). We also got just a few baseball photos before heading to South Salem High School to get some photos with his mom’s letterman’s jacket. I plan to do more baseball photos for him in the spring, it’s hard to do spring sport photos in the summer! I really love incorporating all of a senior’s hobbies and activities in their senior photos. It’s a great way to capture what they’re into and who they are at this time in their lives. Never worry about asking me if you can include something “weird” or “out there” for your high school senior photos…chances are very good I’ll say yes!

Kora & Oskar

I look forward to seeing Kora and Oskar every summer when they visit their grandparents. I’m pretty sure Oskar will be quite a bit taller than his older sister since he’s already passed her up! We met at a local Salem park this year where the shade felt nice and cool on a hot day. Bush Park has a lot of variety for photo sessions and looks different every time I’m there. One of my favorite locations in Salem!
