Tyler

I had a blast doing senior photos with two scouts I’ve known for many years up at Camp Pioneer at the end of the summer. We started with the boys in their Scout uniforms and then they changed as we went. The weather forecast called for rain so we were working quick and managed to get the whole session in before the rain started. Our troop spent a week of summer camp here early in July and Tyler loved it so much he came back to work as staff for two weeks later in the summer. It was a natural choice for senior photos! We walked around the lake to find some good spots for portraits and ended with some fun nerf battle photos in the campfire bowl. Doing two seniors at once is actually pretty fun, and doesn’t take twice the amount of time since I can easily work with one kid while the other changes into a new outfit (or tells jokes to get real smiles out of their friend for me!). Plus we get to take some photos of the two kids together which is a huge bonus! You can find some more photos featuring Ace’s senior photo session on my blog HERE.

Ace

I had an absolute blast doing senior photos with Ace and Tyler up at Camp Pioneer this summer! I’ve known these two boys for several years now as they’re in my kids’ scout troop and both are great kids. They’ve been friends since cub scouts and it made sense to do their photos together and incorporate both scouting AND some nerf guns! The weather turned out to be cloudy (though we did manage to just miss the rain!) but we were able to walk around the empty camp and find some good spots for photos. We even trudged up the hill to the tent platform they shared for a week of summer camp in July. Senior portrait sessions are always a little more fun with a friend…and even more so if you bring nerf guns! You can see more senior photos from this session featuring Tyler on my blog HERE.

Eagle Scout

I was super excited when Anthony asked if I’d be willing to take some Eagle Scout portraits of him at Camp Meriwether this summer. Anthony earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated high school during the Pandemic, and as a result hadn’t got senior photos done so it was my honor to rectify the situation. He was able to get us permission to be on the camp premises so we did our best at a less than ideal time of day for light. Anthony collects vintage scout memorabilia, including several scout uniforms so of course we took several photos with both the current day uniform and one of his cool vintage ones. I love the patrol flag and the felt Order of the Arrow sash, they’re great details!

Kora & Oscar

I met up with Kora, Oscar, and their mom at the Silverton park after their swim lessons for their annual photo session. It was a warm evening and a pleasant walk around the park including a bit of an adventure getting down by the stream. It was definitely easier getting down to the bank than it was scrambling up! Oscar was wearing some pretty awesome fish shoes which we had to feature, and I love that his mom lets them wear goofy things like fish shoes for their annual portraits. It definitely captures who they are in the moment! It’s always fun to see kids grow and I’ve been photographing these two for many years now.

Meet Baby Ray

Baby Ray brought his family to my Salem, Oregon studio for his newborn session where we did family photos first before concentrating the rest of the portrait session on the baby. Mom was very interested in neutrals and greens which I have a lot of, probably because green is one of my favorite colors too! I always ask color preferences before sessions to have some options laid out in advance but clients are more than welcome to look around the studio in case they see anything they like better. I keep a lot of props on hand and have quite a few color options available, especially in the more popular colors and neutrals. I also have several different backdrops we can use for family photos in the studio and used one that I don’t often use for this session because it matched mom’s dress so well! I certainly have more options than the frequently used cream and grays.
