Joanna came in for a Milestone session once she was sitting unassisted, which happens to be a fabulous time for photos! Every baby is different, but this is usually in the 6-7 month age range. I have several different props and backgrounds we can use for these sessions, and even have several different outfits available in my studio for you to use. Or you can bring your own like Joanna did! These sessions usually last about 20 min long which is just about perfect for little ones attention spans.
This Newborn Mini Session took place in my Salem, OR portrait studio which made the whole hour long session nice and easy! Sam was sleepy for the entire session which made everything go super smoothly. His mom chose navy blue as one of the setups along with the super cute bear ear bonnet which is one of my favorites. I knit this bonnet myself, just like quite a few of the bonnets in my prop collection. I’m also a big fan of the green we used, it’s one of my favorite colors since it’s flattering to almost every baby and works for both boys and girls. Of course my clients all have the final say in what colors/props we use during their photos sessions. It’s my goal that you love your photos so what I like doesn’t matter so much as what YOU like!
Baby Cameron came into my Salem, OR photo studio for his Newborn Mini Session. I love having my small studio available for newborn photo sessions since I have all my props on hand which means you have a lot of choices for colors etc. I have an entire wall display of hats and bonnets including a few sleepy hats like the one I used with Cameron here. Newborn Mini Sessions are also fairly quick, finishing in about an hour. Since babies are kept wrapped up the entire time they are usually pretty happy so sessions tend to go pretty smoothly.
I traveled to Soren’s home for his Mini Newborn Session (yes I still offer in-home newborn sessions for a travel fee!). I bring along my studio light so newborn photos will look the same in your home or in my studio. One bonus to doing newborn photos in your home (aside from the obvious- not having to pack up the baby and drive to my studio) is that we can do more relaxed family photos on the couch or a bedroom like we did here. It also helps with toddler-aged siblings who are usually more comfortable in their own environment. I try to bring a few different options for the baby-only setups so while there’s not the same selection as there is in my studio, you do still have choices.
It was a lot of fun to photograph Olivia’s first birthday cake smash photo session! Olivia is such a cutie and she had a great time smashing her cake and tasting the frosting. Her Mom brought in most of the decorations for a boho theme in pink and gold. I provided the cream backdrop and the cake stand. I do have a few simple decorations I can provide for cake smash photo sessions but you’re also welcome to bring in any decorations you like. I know some of my client’s enjoy putting together a cute setup, but if that’s not you that’s ok! We can collaborate and make your vision happen.
