Most newborns I photograph are under 2 weeks old which is the ideal age for newborn photos but every now and again I photograph an “older” newborn and most of the time it works out just fine. There’s plenty of reasons why a newborn session might happen later then the magical 14 day window but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to catch some sleepy poses. It takes a little more time and a lot more patience but we managed just fine with just over four week old Ryder, mostly due to his Dad’s baby magic!
Ryder is lucky to have a guardian in the form of a large friendly dog named Zuzu. She’s pretty enthralled with the little guy and has taken to sleeping by his crib. We got some photos of Zuzu with Ryder on the couch, which is something I only attempted because we knew that Zuzu is very well behaved and in fact did not move her paw one inch the entire time we had him in this pose. Obviously not something possible with every dog!
I’m excited to watch Ryder grow, I can already tell he’s going to be one handsome little man!
