I’ve been going to Pacific City for the beach for over 17 years and I have to say it’s one of my favorite places on the Oregon Coast. It’s a quiet town with some really soft sand, beach grass, and haystack rock. A photographer’s paradise! When four lovely ladies contacted me about doing a portrait session with the four of them and their horses on the beach I jumped at the chance!
While the gorgeous evening sunshine had me wearing sunglasses the entire drive out to Pacific City a ginormous gray cloud sat literally right on top of Bob Straub State Park once I reached town. While we didn’t get a fabulous sunset we did have some nice light (and more than a slight breeze!) and the photos turned out really beautiful.
This was my first time photographing horses and it was a lot of fun, although keeping up with them while hauling all my gear up and over sand dunes counted as my workout of the week. Whew! Totally worth it though, and I’d love to do more sessions like this one!
