My Sweet Six Year Old: Child Photography Dallas, OR

My beautiful daughter turned six at the end of July and the two of us took advantage of a beautiful evening and took her six year old portraits on the fly.  Since it was my own child and spur of the moment I didn’t grab any of my back up equipment so naturally my camera batteries died three clicks into our session.  Fabulous.  We ran home real quick and rallied for our second attempt and I’m very pleased with how they turned out!  I think many photographers find their own children to be their toughest subjects, and my daughter has definitely been my challenge.  She is not a sit still kind of child and rarely looks at the camera longer then two seconds.  Now that she’s older she will pose for me which is almost worse, I have no idea where she gets her posing ideas but they are a little too crazy for my taste!

She helped me choose her outfits (I limited her to four…she would have chosen more) down to the matching shoes, jewelry, hair pretties, and sunglasses.  That’s right, she picked out (and wore) a pair of sunglasses with each outfit.  Normally I wouldn’t let her go quite so nuts but it got her excited about doing photos with Mommy and made it a special experience for her.  She also helped me choose the locations and insisted that she needed to wear the red and white polka dot dress at the Dallas City Park even when I tried to talk her out of it.  My favorites were at the end of the session when we pulled over at the empty field near our house for some beautiful sunflare photos.  The timing was perfect, and the natural smiles and expressions from my daughter melt my heart.  She’s laughing because the weeds were “kissing” her…

And just because I’m biased and think my daughter is absolutely beautiful and my Mommy Goggles have a very difficult time narrowing down my favorites I decided to share a bunch!
